Pento is a polygon made up of 5 squares of the same size, connected edge-to-edge. There are 12 different pentominoes. Named as s, t, u, v, w, x,y, z, f, l, i, p for easy reference. As each pentomino is made up of 5 clearly marked out units, PentoMagic is a good resource for the teaching of area and perimeter. Children can also see how different shapes can have the same area, but different perimeters.
